Flowers are forever!

As I always say, a girl can't have enough flowers! To continue on the brooch theme, here are some wonderful large (3 to 4 inches wide) brooches that will give you a big, bold look.

Flowers always help me make it through the winter when I can't get out and play in the garden. I think you can wear them year round.

Christmas Flowers

As the winter season begins we can look forward to dreary cold days.

I have created wonderful large brooch pins that are sure to brighten your day and your overcoat! The holly leaves and poinsettia brooch will look lovely on any outfit.

Fall Flair!

Finally, it seems like we might survive the blistering heat of the summer of broken heat records. The nights are getting cooler and the days are pleasant. I'm hoping for a nice long fall before we head into the winter months. Here is what you need to know for your fall wardrobe:

JEANS: Always a good choice, always comfortable. It doesn't seem to matter whether you wear fitted or flared; you should wear the style that is the best fit for your figure.

LEATHER: And we're not just talking jackets here, either. I consider leather to be a basic staple in the closet. Skirts, jackets, and don't forget the suede. Reds, blacks and the saddle brown.

SLACKS: Whether at the office, out on the town, or lounging around at home. Slacks this fall sport bold splashes of color. In my research, and in particular at www.intermixonline.com, I learned that color on the bottom, black on top is the new trend. So, mix and match your bold slacks with black sweaters and tops. The main colors? Red, blues and yellow, in any shade you want.

PLAID: Yes, it seems you just cannot have a fall without plaid. I've always wondered about that. But, even going back into my childhood days, plaid in Autumn is always in order. Skirts, jackets, long and short. The usual plaid color combinations are in order: black/white/gray, blue/gray/black, brown/white/tan, black/red/white, brown/gold/yellow. You can even throw on that plaid poncho!

I will be continuing this in the next blog session with dresses, and jackets. But for now, of course you'll be needing bold jewelry to go along with the fall colors, so be sure to look at the new items on www.jewelrybotanica.com
Thanks! Happy Fall!

Spring 2012?

Can it possibly be true? I'm seeing trends for Spring 2012, even before we're finished with summmer of 2011, and it's still 100 degrees outside! I'm hoping for a nice long Fall. I will be posting on what to expect next spring after I complete a bit more research.
Thanks for reading!

College Collection Photos

Here are a couple more handcrafted necklaces. These necklaces in the Kansas college colors have been so much fun to make.

College Collection

It's difficult to think about students going back to school, and college football right around the corner. It's still in the tripple digits here in the midwest. 108 today in Kansas. It makes me ill.

I've been passing the time by making more handcrafted, hand sculpted floral necklaces for the College Collection. Here in Kansas the three largest colleges are University of Kansas (Blue and Red,) Kansas State (Purple and White,) and Wichita State (Black and Gold). Check out these necklaces for the serious fan only.

All of my necklaces are handmade. I cannot stress this enough, no two are alike. I design not only the flowers, but the layout of the beads and decide which beads to use that will make the prettiest necklace to compliment the flower.

I accept custom orders, so if you have a particular color combination you would like, just let me know. This collection is not listed on jewelrybotanica.com.

Fall Fashion

As I continue to explore ideas for exciting new designs in my handcrafted necklace collections, I've been doing some research on Fall fashion trends.  After all, we ladies will need to have accessories to complete our look and style.

I've never been too trendy myself.  I tend to be drawn to tailored, classic styles.  But wait a minute! I'm not in sales anymore! I am designing, sculpting and making jewelry!  Time to get creative and see what I can do.   I love experimenting with different colors and textures.  Women wear many hats these days and jewelry are personal items.  They, too can be different to fit the occasion and the season.

According to OK Magazine, the 1970's are back.  As far as accessories go, this means chokers.  I actually have some silver toned chokers that pendents can easily be attached to.  These look especially nice with my original watercolor flower pendants and the polymer clay flowers necklaces.

You'll be seeing the usual suspects this fall:  This means black.  Every woman looks good in black and it can be dressed up or down.  Harper's Bazaar indicates that we can look forward to rich jewel tones this autumn.  Brillant topaz, copper, and chocolate tones.   The top color will be shades of red, from deep burgandy to candy apple.

After such a hot summer, I am ready for fall.  Now, since I just read that leather is hot, I'll get back to making some leather flower necklaces.   Be sure to check out the website for updates. http://www.jewelrybotanica.com/
